About

Rachel Salant is an animal behavior specialist currently based in Seattle, Washington. She specializes in behavior modification using the most positive and least intrusive techniques. Throughout her career she has worked directly with a wide variety of species including marine mammals (dolphins, sea lions & sea otters), birds (parrots, birds of prey & chickens), small mammals (raccoons, porcupines, guinea pigs & foxes), large felids (tigers, snow leopards & jaguars), domestic hoofstock (goats and sheep) and her personal favorite – domestic dogs and cats. She is an expert in teaching trainers how to train their animals to voluntarily participate in their own healthcare. Rachel is passionate about helping pet parents navigate the often confusing and conflicting information out there about pet behavior, and ensuring our beloved pets and pet parents are set up for a lifetime of success. She also specializes in end-of-life decision making. In her spare time, Rachel works with a local rescue specializing in giving geriatric/non-adoptable dogs comfortable hospice homes. You can also find her tending to her growing house plant collection, hiking with her husband and dog Diego, or training for her next triathlon.
